In the past, the Kaya Village was called " Levissi ". Due to a population exchange mutually signed by two countries in 1922, the Turks in Thrace and the Anatolian Greeks were exchanged. However, the immigrants from Thrace could not adapt themselves to environmental conditions and abandoned the village for a short while. The Kaya Village has hosted visitors since 1923 as a "Ghost Town".
