The bays of Göcek are some of the most beautiful and historical sites in the region. It is believed that Göcek and its environs were the ancient city of Daedalos. In the records of Strabo and Herodotus, Daedalus is mentioned as a Lycian port. Unfortunately, not much of the city has survived to the present day, probably due to earthquakes in ancient times.
